Free Crochet Pattern: Wendy the Witch – Your Perfect Trick-Or-Treat Buddy to Pair with Frankie Stein!

Supplies: 4.0 mm hook, Red Heart Super Saver in “Spring Green,” purple yarn, orange yarn, black yarn, white yarn, 9 mm safety eyes (I used green eyes), and poly-fil stuffing.

Stitch Abbreviations Used: sc – single crochet, bobble – 4 double crochets grouped together in the same stitch, dc – double crochet, sc2tog – single crochet two stitches together, hdc2tog – half double crochet two stitches together, ch – chain, spike – spike stitch, FLO – front loop only, BLO – back loop only.

Arms (make 2, spring green yarn)

Round 1: magic ring – 6 sc.

Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around.

Round 3: sc in each stitch around. (12 stitches)

Round 4: bobble in first stitch, sc next 11.

Round 5: *sc2tog, sc next stitch* repeat around. (9 stitches)

Change to purple yarn.

Round 6 – Round 13: sc in each stitch around.

Round 14: stuff arm lightly, flatten to close top of arm, work stitches through both layers of the arm to permanently close the arm, sc2tog, sc next 2.

Fasten off, weave in ends.

Legs (make 2, black yarn)

Round 1: magic ring – 6 sc.

Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 stitches)

Round 3: *2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next* repeat around.

Round 4: *sc in first stitch, 2 sc in next, 1 sc in next stitch* repeat around. (24 stitches)

Round 5: BLO sc in each stitch around.

Round 6: sc each of the first 3 stitches, hdc2tog 6 times, sc each of the last 9. (18 stitches)

Round 7: sc each of the first 3 stitches, sc2tog 3 times, sc each of the last 9. (15 stitches)

Round 8: BLO sc in each stitch around.

Round 9: [change to orange yarn, sc in each stitch around.

Round 10: change to black yarn, sc in each stitch around.]

Round 11 – Round 16: repeat [ to ].

Fasten off leg 1, weave in ends. Repeat to create leg 2 and continue on to body without fastening off.

Body/Head (black yarn)

Round 1: ch 1, place stitch marker and line up the legs next to each other, begin stitches in leg 1, sc 32 around both legs (with one stitch each in the front and back of the ch 1 space).

Round 2 – Round 4: sc in each stitch around.

Round 5: *sc2tog, sc next 14* repeat around. (30 stitches)

Round 6: BLO sc in each stitch around.

Change to purple yarn.

Round 7: sc in each stitch around.

Round 8: BLO sc in each stitch around.

Round 9: *sc2tog, sc next 8* repeat around. (27 stitches)

Round 10 – Round 11: sc in each stitch around.

Round 12: *sc2tog, sc next 7* repeat around. (24 stitches)

Round 13: sc in each stitch around.

Begin tightly stuffing the legs.

Round 14: sc each of the first 5 stitches, holding arm up to the body so that the bobble stitch is pointing in the same direction as the feet, sc 3 stitches you will stitch through both the arm and the body at the same time to connect them, sc next 9, hold the remaining arm to the body in the same manner, sc 3 stitches to connect arm and body, sc remaining 4 stitches of round.

Round 15: *sc2tog, sc next 2* repeat around. (18 stitches)

Round 16: *sc2tog, sc next 4* repeat around. (15 stitches)

Change to spring green yarn.

Round 17: BLO sc in each stitch around.

Round 18: *2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in each of the next 4* repeat around.

Round 19: *2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 2* repeat around.

Round 20: *sc first 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat around.

Stuff body.

Round 21: *2 sc in first stitch, sc next 2, 2 sc in following stitch, sc in next* repeat around.

Round 22: *2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 6* repeat around. (48 stitches)

Round 23 – Round 27: sc in each stitch around.

Round 28: sc first 30, bobble, sc remaining 17.

Round 29 – Round 32: sc in each stitch around.

Round 33: *sc2tog, sc next 6* repeat around.

Place safety eyes between rounds 30 and 31, leave 4 stitches between the eyes.

Round 34: BLO sc in each stitch around.

Round 35: *sc2tog, sc next 5* repeat around.

Round 36: *sc first 2, sc2tog, sc next 2* repeat around.

Begin stuffing head and continue during remaining rounds.

Round 37: *sc2tog, sc next 3* repeat around.

Round 38: *sc first stitch, sc2tog, sc next stitch* repeat around.

Round 39: *sc2tog, sc next* repeat around.

Round 40: sc2tog around.

Fasten off, use tail to close the remaining stitches.

Hat (black yarn)

Round 1: magic ring – 6 sc.

Round 2: sc in each stitch around.

Round 3: *2 sc in first stitch, sc next 2* repeat around. (8 stitches)

Round 4: sc in each stitch around.

Round 5: *2 sc in first stitch, sc next 3* repeat around.

Round 6: *2 sc in first stitch, sc next stitch* repeat around. (15 stitches)

Round 7: sc in each stitch around.

Round 8: *2 sc in first stitch, sc next 2* repeat around. (20 stitches)

Round 9: *2 sc in first stitch, sc next 3* repeat around.

Round 10 – Round 11: sc in each stitch around.

Round 12: *sc first 2, 2 sc in next stitch, sc next 2* repeat around. (30 stitches)

Round 13: *2 sc in first stitch, sc next 5* repeat around.

Round 14 – Round 17: sc in each stitch around.

Round 18: FLO ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), *2 dc first stitch, 3 dc in next* repeat around.

Fasten off, weave in ends. Use a separate piece of black yarn to head using the unworked back loops of round 17.

Skirt (purple yarn)

Round 1: attach yarn to unworked front loops of body round 8, ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), *2 dc in first stitch, 3 dc in next* repeat around.

Round 2: ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), 2 dc in each stitch around.

Round 3 – Round 5: ch 2, (does not count as a stitch), dc in each stitch around.

Ears (make 2, green yarn)

Round 1: magic ring – 6 sc.

Round 2: sc in each stitch around.

Fasten off, use tail to sew to head between rounds 28 and 30.

Hair (orange yarn, worked in rows)

Row 1: ch 51, begin working in 2nd chain from hook, sc next 20, *ch 21, begin working in 2nd chain from hook, sc 20* repeat * to * to end of foundation chain.

Fasten off, use a long tail to sew to head where it meets the hat. I chose to tack the hair to the head around round 24/25.

Treat Bag (white yarn)

Round 1: ch 9, begin working in 2nd chain from hook, 2 sc in first stitch, sc next 6, 4 sc in last chain, continue stitches in opposite side of foundation chain, sc next 6, 2 sc in final stitch.

Round 2 – Round 10: sc in each stitch around.

Round 11: ch 12, skip 10 stitches, slst to next stitch.

Fasten off, weave in ends. Embroider a ghost face onto the front of the bag and then attach to one or both hands.
