Meet Georgie! A perfect stuffed friend for any giraffe loving little one (or grown up)!
Supplies Needed: yellow yarn, brown yarn, buff yarn, a pair of 10 mm safety eyes, 3.5 mm crochet hook, yarn needle, and polyfil stuffing.
Abbreviations Used: sc – single crochet, sc2tog – single crochet 2 together, slst – slip stitch, bobble – bobble stitch, 4 dc in one stitch, BLO – back loop only.
Head (yellow yarn)
Round 1: magic ring – sc 6.
Round 2: 2sc around.
Round 3: *2sc, sc* repeat * to * around.
Round 4: *sc, 2sc, sc* repeat * to * around. (24 stitches)
Round 5: sc around.
Round 6: *2sc, sc 3* repeat * to * around.
Round 7: *sc 2, 2sc, sc 2* repeat * to * around. (36 stitches)
Round 8 – Round 12: sc around.
Round 13: *2sc, sc 5* repeat * to * around.
Round 14: *sc 3, 2sc, sc 3* repeat * to * around. (48 stitches)
Round 15 – Round 18: sc around.
Round 19: *sc2tog, sc 6* repeat * to * around. (42 stitches)
Insert safety eyes between rounds 16 and 17, leaving 3 stitches between.
Round 20: *sc 2, sc2tog, sc 3* repeat * to * around.
Round 21: *sc2tog, sc 4* repeat * to * around. (30 stitches)
Round 22: *sc 2, sc2tog, sc* repeat * to * around.
Round 23: *sc2tog, sc 2* repeat * to * around. (18 stitches)
Round 24: *sc2tog, sc* repeat * to * around.
Fasten off.
Snout (buff yarn)
Round 1: ch 5, begin in second chain from hook, 2sc, sc 2, 4sc in last chain, continue working on back side of foundation chain, sc 2, 2sc.
Round 2: 2sc, sc 4, 2sc 2x, sc 4, 2sc.
Round 3: 2sc 2x, sc 5, 2sc 3x, sc 5, 2sc.
Round 4 – Round 6: sc around.
Fasten off, leave tail for sewing.
Ossicones (brown yarn, make 2)
Round 1: magic ring – 6 sc.
Round 2: *2sc, sc* repeat * to * around.
Round 3: sc around.
Change to yellow yarn.
Round 4: *sc2tog, sc* repeat * to * around.
Round 5 – Round 6: sc around.
Fasten off, sew to top of head at round 3.
Ears (yellow yarn, make 2)
Round 1: magic ring – 3 sc.
Round 2: 2 sc around.
Round 3: *2sc, sc* repeat * to * around. (9 stitches)
Round 4: *2 sc, sc 2* repeat * to * around.
Round 5 – Round 7: sc around.
Round 8: flatten, pinch the ends of the ear together, sc 3 to close.
Fasten off, sew to sides of head at round 6.
Neck/Body (yellow yarn)
Round 1: ch 18, join in a ring, sc 18 around.
Round 2 – 11: sc around.
Round 12: *2sc, sc 5* repeat * to * around. (21 stitches)
Round 13: ch 11, begin working in 2nd chain from hook, sc 10 along chains, continue working around neck, sc 21, continue along back side of chain, sc 10.
Round 14: 2sc, sc 2, *sc 3, 2sc, sc 2* 6 times, sc 3, 2sc.
Round 15: *2sc, sc 3* 3x, sc 24, *sc 3, 2sc* 3x.
Round 16 – Round 22: sc around.
Round 23: *sc2tog, sc 7* repeat * to * around.
Round 24 – Round 25: sc around.
Round 26: *sc2tog, sc 6* repeat * to * around.
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing belly closed after creating legs.
Legs (make 4, yellow yarn)
Create first leg beginning at stitch after fasten off. Leave one stitch unworked on each side between front and back legs.
Round 1: attach yarn to body, *2sc, sc 4* repeat 1 time. (12 stitches)
Round 2: leave remaining stitches of body unworked, sc around.
Round 3 – Round 4: sc around.
Round 5: *2sc, sc 3* repeat * to *.
Round 6 – Round 7: sc around.
Change to brown yarn.
Round 8 – Round 10: sc around.
Round 11: BLO, *sc2tog, sc 3* repeat * to *.
Round 12: sc2tog around.
Fasten off, repeat for other legs. When all four legs are completed, use the tail left on the body to sew closed.
Spots (make 5, brown yarn)
Round 1: magic ring – 6 sc.
Round 2: 2 sc around.
Round 3: *2sc 2x, sc* repeat * to * around.
Fasten off, leave tail and sew randomly around body.
