Add stuffing to body, continue adding stuff as you finish closing the bottom.

Tentacles (light purple yarn, make 4)

Round 1: magic ring – 6 sc.

Round 2: inc around.

Fasten off first three tentacles, with fourth continue on to tentacle base. Stuff all 4 tentacles.

Tentacle Base

Round 1: flatten tentacle 4, sc 6 to close, *pick up next tentacle, flatten, sc 6 to close* 3 times.

Round 2 – Round 3: sc2tog around (6 stitches after round 3).

Fasten off, weave tail in to close opening. Use another piece of light purple yarn to sew round 1 of base to front loops of head round 25.

Eyes (yellow yarn, make 2)

Round 1: magic ring – 6 sc.

Round 2: inc around.

Round 3: *inc, sc 3* (15 stitches)

Fasten off, leave tail for sewing to head

Pupils (black yarn, make 2)

Round 1: magic ring – 4 sc.

Fasten off, sew to the center of the eyes.

Eyelids (dark purple yarn, make 2)

Round 1: ch 4, begin stitches in 2nd chain, inc, sc 1, inc, ch 1, turn.

Round 2: inc, sc 3, inc, ch 1, turn.

Round 3: sc around outer edge.

Fasten off, sew to the head so that they are covering top part of each eye.

Nose (light blue yarn)

Round 1: ch 5, begin stitches in 2nd chain from hook, inc, sc 2, 4 sc in last chain, sc 2, inc.

Round 2: sc around.

Round 3: sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog 2x, sc 2, sc2tog.

Fasten off, leave tail for sewing just below the eyes.

Hair (dark purple yarn)

Row 1: ch 8, begin stitches in 2nd chain from hook, sc 3, 3 sc in next chain, sc 3.

Fasten off, sew to head so that the curl of the hair lands about 1 row above the eyes.

Hat (dark purple yarn)

Fasten off, leave tail for sewing randomly spaced on tentacles.

Head (buff yarn)

Round 1: magic ring – 6 sc.

Round 4: *2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in each of the next 2* repeat around.

Round 5: *2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in each of the next 3 stitches* repeat around (30 stitches).

Round 6 – Round 8: sc around.

Round 9: sc 14, bobble, sc 15.

Round 10 – Round 12: sc around.

Round 13: *sc2tog, sc each of the next 3* repeat around.

Add safety eyes to round 7, leave 4 stitches between the eyes.

Change to yellow yarn.

Round 5: BLO sc around.

Change to buff yarn.

Pant Legs (make 2, black yarn)

Round 1: ch 12, slst to join in circle, sc 12 around.

Round 2: sc2tog, sc 10.

Round 3:sc2tog, sc 9.

Position pant leg at the top of on leg, continue on to next round to connect the two pieces.

Round 4: sc around.

Fasten off, weave in tail.

Body (black yarn)

Round 1: holding both legs together, sc 2 to connect the legs, add stitch marker, *2 sc, sc* repeat around outside of both legs.

Change to yellow yarn.

Round 2: *2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches* repeat around.

Round 3 – Round 10: sc around.

Begin stuffing body, continue stuffing as you go.

Round 11: sc 2, sc2tog three times, sc 6, sc2tog three times, sc 4.

Round 12: sc 2, sc2tog two times, sc 5, sc2tog two times, sc 3.

Round 13: sc, sc2tog two times, sc 5, sc2tog two times, sc 2.

Change to buff yarn.

Finish stuffing body.

Collar (yellow yarn)

Round 1: attach yarn to front loop, centered on front of round 14 of body, ch 2 2 dc in first stitch, hdc, sc next 8, hdc, 2 dc in last stitch.

Arms (make 2, buff yarn)

Round 1: magic ring – sc 6.

Round 2: *2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in each of the next 2* repeat around.

Round 3: sc around.

Round 5: *sc2tog, sc 2* repeat around.

Stuff hand lightly.

Round 6 – Round 11: sc around.

Fasten off.

Shirt Sleeves (make 2, yellow yarn)

Round 1: ch 10, slst to join in a circle, sc 10 around.

Round 2: sc2tog, sc 8.

Round 3: sc2tog, sc 3, sc2tog, sc 2.

Round 4: put on arm continue stitches to attach sleeve to round 11 of arm, sc around.

Round 5: flatten round 4 to close the top of the arm, sc across (through both sides) to close.

Fasten off, use tail to sew to round 12 of body.

Chevron (black yarn, worked in rows)

Row 1: ch 42, begin stitches in 2nd chain from hook, sc 2, 3 sc, sc 2, *skip 2 stitches, sc 2, 3 sc, sc 2* repeat to last chain.

Fasten off, sew around the body between rounds 4 and 6.

Snoopy  

Head (white yarn)

Round 1: magic ring – sc 6.

When I was finally able to figure out the pattern, I decided to have a little fun with it and play a little game on Facebook throughout the day by posting progress pictures and giving people a chance to guess the character before the big reveal. People loved guessing, and it gave me more ideas of characters to try my hand at later!

ARTHUR READ

Supplies Needed: yarn in camel, blue (slate), red, white, yellow, and a small amount of pale pink, 4.0 mm (G) hook, stitch marker, stuffing, and a set of 6 mm safety eyes.

Glasses (dark brown yarn)

Round 1: ch 10, slst into ring, sc 15 around ring, slst to first sc of round, ch 12, slst in 3rd chain from hook to create ring, sc 15 around ring, sls to first sc of round.

Fasten off, use tail to tack the glasses onto the head between the eyes.
